Small charities band together in search of bigger WPG opportunities

Banding togetherWith lower brand-recognition than some of the larger charities, smaller charities often struggle to attract the attention of employers when they are selecting workplace giving program partners.

To help tackle this challenge, ACF has been facilitating a working group of smaller community organisations. Working collaboratively, ACF and the working group have identified a range of opportunities to drive more workplace giving dollars in their direction.

Initiatives to increase the support smaller community organisations receive through workplace giving include:
  • Resource sharing - taking a more collaborative approach to workplace giving by sharing resources where possible
  • Targeting SMEs to take advantage of the synergy they share as smaller organisations
  • Promoting and better showcasing the benefits of supporting smaller community organisations eg. closer relationships, the chance for donors to have deeper impact and play a bigger part in a smaller organisation
  • Creating a pre-selected smaller charity WPG program offer - banding together and working with ACF to develop and offer potential employer partners a pre-selected 'mixed bag' of smaller charities (across one cause or multiple causes) they can support in lieu of the bigger charities through their workplace giving programs.
Led by Cure Cancer Australia CEO Leanne Warner, the working group includes the Humour Foundation, the Create Foundation, House With No Steps, Assistance Dogs, Good Beginnings, and Come In Youth Resource Centre.
