ACF was quick to respond to the Queensland floods, immediately reaching out to employer partners with a communication advising how they could donate to the Premier's Disaster Relief Appeal.
'We're pleased the vast majority of our employer partners are leveraging their workplace giving program facility to temporarily add the Premier's Disaster Relief Appeal to their program allowing employees to donate pre-tax. Many are starting the pot with generous donations, and nearly all are matching employee donations dollar for dollar, including those who traditionally do not match employee workplace giving contributions' said ACF CEO Ted Kerr.
More than 650 (and counting) JB Hi-Fi employees have made one-off flood pledges through its workplace giving program. While many employees were already regular workplace giving donors, JB Hi-Fi took the opportunity to create a new pledge form. This gave staff the chance to donate to the flood appeal and to join the regular workplace giving program, resulting in 6% of flood donors also signing up to WPG.
Salvation Army corporate & major gifts director Phil Wilson said he has been astounded by the way employer partners have come onboard. 'we've never known anything like it in over 20 years fundraising experience. A number of our employer partners have recommended to their workplace giving donors that funds be donated to the Salvation Army this month'.

The Australian Charities Fund and United Way have made a joint submission in response to the Commonwealth Treasury's discussion paper, 'Charitable fundraising regulation reform'.
