Workplace giving opens doors to cross-sector collaboration

Collaborative Supply ProgramWorkplace giving donations from ANZ, CSL and Microsoft covered a funding shortfall enabling Foodbank Australia's Collaborative Supply Program pasta project to go ahead.

More than 10 organisations cutting across corporate sector boundaries, made possible the production of 800 tonnes of pasta as part of the Collaborative Supply Program aimed at meeting the deficit of key staple foods.

A grant from the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) enabled Foodbank Australia's pasta project to get off the ground.

From this government funding, Foodbank was able to leverage each dollar of the initial investment to create $10.50 worth of food through the donation of goods, services and funding from its partners.

Foodbank Australia CEO John Webster said the pasta project was an example of outstanding collaboration.
Rinoldi Pasta, who took out this year's Foodbank Collaboration Award, produced the pasta. Other partners included George Weston Foods, CBH Group and Manildra Group, which contributed the grain and flour. Visy, Perfection Packaging and Shorko came to the party contributing packaging and Toll provided logistics to move the pasta around the country.

Workplace giving donations from employees of ANZ, CSL and Microsoft contributed cash that was needed to ensure the success of the program.
