JB Hi-Fi's Change for Change pilot highlights it is not just employees who want to see organisations giving back to the community.
Six weeks later those small change donations had raised nearly $4,500, with donations to be evenly divided between its eight workplace giving charity partners.
JB Hi-Fi CEO Terry Smart said all 138 JB branded stores throughout Australia now have the Change for Change boxes installed.
Smart said JB Hi-Fi employs over 5,500 staff in Australia and New Zealand. With each new store opening creating approximately 30 new employment opportunities and a company target of 210 stores, Smart said the organisation anticipates taking on over 500 new employees in the 2011 financial year.
Launched in 2008, the JB workplace giving program 'Helping Hands'Â has more than 890 employees making regular weekly contributions to eight charity partners. To date the program has raised $1.33 million including the matching grants made by the company.
Smart said through the program, JB Hi-Fi is able to engage more closely with both its employees and the communities it is a part of.

The Australian Charities Fund and United Way have made a joint submission in response to the Commonwealth Treasury's discussion paper, 'Charitable fundraising regulation reform'.
