Law firm Mallesons Stephen Jaques' Pink Ribbon breakfasts held across all Australian and Asian offices have driven workplace giving participation rates to the highest level ever, driving its average participation rate from 32% to 40%.
Farnsworth attributes success to creating an event people can get enthusiastic about and want to come to.
Mallesons hosts and sponsors a major charity event in all offices each year. This year the workplace giving partner supported was the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Farnsworth said each year Mallesons takes onboard learning to grow the success of the event and its workplace giving program.
She attributes some of the success to:
- Visible senior leadership support at all events
- Allowing staff to attend individually or book a table so they can come as a team with the team component actively encouraged by the firm
- Charity champions at every table
- Senior charity partner representatives or ambassadors at all events
- Driving employee engagement with goody bags and prizes
- Pledge forms at every seat allowing staff to choose from a range of charities and how much they wish to donate, encouraging staff to recognise every dollar adds up and makes a difference.

The Australian Charities Fund and United Way have made a joint submission in response to the Commonwealth Treasury's discussion paper, 'Charitable fundraising regulation reform'.
