The Garvan Institute of Medical Research is a world leader in biomedical research, with over 400 researchers and clinicians pioneering study into some of the most widespread diseases affecting our community today.
Research at Garvan is focused on advancing diagnosis, prognosis and treatment. Significant breakthroughs have been achieved by Garvan scientists in the understanding and treatment of diseases within our five research programs:
- Cancer - including prostate, breast, ovarian, lung, pancreatic and colorectal
- Diabetes and Obesity - including Type 2 diabetes, weight, metabolism
- Neuroscience - including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, hearing loss and anorexia
- Bone - Osteoporosis
- Immunology - including asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, Type 1 diabetes, metastatic cancer, organ transplants and many more.
