Having played a key role in establishing the legislative framework for workplace giving in Australia, workplace giving was launched as part of the Mallesons in the Community program to Australian partners and staff in September 2002. Extended to its Hong Kong and London offices in August 2009, partners and staff now donate to local, national and regional charities, with an emphasis on:
- helping alleviate poverty and improve community welfare; and
- helping children and young people at risk.
Mallesons in the Community key features
Mallesons in the Community is a multi-faceted program underpinned by its strong partnerships with its workplace giving charities. In addition to the financial support provided through workplace giving, Mallesons also offers each of its workplace giving charities:- pro bono support: each workplace giving charity receives an annual pro bono budget for legal services from Mallesons
- volunteers: Mallesons partners and staff are given opportunities to volunteer with the programs and fundraising events run by its workplace giving charities
The comprehensive and integrated nature of the Mallesons in the Community program has resulted in high workplace giving participation rates as well as a high level of engagement between Mallesons partners and staff with its workplace giving charities.
