Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ) is one of the largest banks covering the area of Australia, New Zealand and Asia Pacific. ANZ serves more than 5.7 million retail customers and employs over 39,000 people worldwide.
ANZ is committed to enhancing the well-being and prosperity of the communities where their people live and work, and where their business operates. They launched their workplace giving program, ANZ Community Giving, in April 2005 as part of a broader community initiative.
In 2009, ANZ undertook a widespread corporate responsibility review and the program now supports a range of charities with a focus on the following 5 key areas:
- Responsible practices
- Education and employment opportunities
- Financial capability
- Helping bridge urban and rural social and economic divide
- Urban sustainability
ANZ Community Giving's key features
Through its community involvement, ANZ is leading the way in Australia in the area of financial literacy and inclusion. An example of this commitment is Saver Plus, a matched saving and financial literacy program developed in partnership with the Brotherhood of St Laurence, and delivered in partnership with Berry Street, The Benevolent Society and The Smith Family and other local community agencies. Saver Plus has also recently been supported by the Australian Government, and has been recognised as one of the most successful of its kind in the world."ANZ's investment in the community is aligned very closely to our business strategy across Australia, New Zealand and Asia Pacific, and to our role as a provider of financial services. The engagement of our people in this work is important, with staff being given an opportunity to get involved in a number of flagship programs. Over half of ANZ's branches in Australia are directly involved in Saver Plus, and our staff giving program gives staff an additional opportunity to support our charity partners in a meaningful way. We look forward to working closely with The Australian Charities Fund and our corporate peers to further develop and improve the outcomes we can achieve together."
