Ageing, Disability and Home Care is part of the Department of Human Services NSW. It provides support and services for older people, people with a disability, their families and carers within the community.
The Department launched its workplace giving program, Giving Pays, in April 2009 to more than 12,000 employees in over 500 workplaces. The program supports ten charities in the areas of cancer, international aid and development, animal welfare, poverty/children and families at risk, environment, human rights and mental illness.
Giving Pays' Key Features
ADHC is one of the first State government agencies to implement an integrated employee giving program. It is leading the way in encouraging other NSW government departments to develop community engagement programs for public service employees. ADHC has engaged staff in Giving Pays through building emotional and educational messages into day-to-day communications that reach employees in all business streams and regions. ADHC has also worked closely with The Australian Charities Fund and its charity partners to explore and conduct staff engagement opportunities to raise funds, volunteer and learn more about social issues.
"Giving Pays has helped us create a more cohesive, positive and engaged workforce. It has become the foremost vehicle for team and morale building and helps demonstrate our values, foster a more connected workplace and provides a source of organisational pride".
